The Seamstress

The Seamstress- Susie is her name- isn't exactly a self portrait but she is related. (I'm taller.) Susie loves to create works of art using fabrics and buttons and colored floss. She collects buttons and ribbons and ric rac. So it only seemed right to create her portrait using the things she loves.

The Seamstress- Susie, I has been created using felted wool and felted cotton. Her gown is a combination of silk, cotton and a collection of buttons. Susie has artfully accessorized with measuring tape, a ric rac-wrapped bobbin brooch, and a necklace made with hooks and eyes. Her hair is adorned with zippers and pins and needles are tucked into her pin cushion bun.

Isn't she lovely?!

The Seamstress rests on a red and white background and is finished with a small black and white check cotton backing. She measures at approximately 14" x 18" and is ready to frame or display as is. Click here to see here listing.

Little Briar-Rose {fairy tale series #2}

'The Two Wise-Women, 13 & 12' and 'Little Briar-Rose, Asleep' are from the fairy tale, "Little Briar-Rose', as recorded by the Brothers' Grimm. It is also known as 'Sleeping Beauty'.

The portrait of the two wise women and their gifts for the then baby Briar-Rose, measures approximately 13" x 10".

The portrait of Briar-Rose, sleeping peacefully (and beautifully, if I do say so myself), measures approximately 8" x 10".

They are both hand-sewn on cotton backgrounds, and backed in cotton, making them ready for framing or displaying however you wish.

The box is a an approx. 6" Whitman's Sampler Valentine's candy box. It has been painted black, and the top and inside bottom are lined with old sheet music. A small porrtait of Snow-White is hand-sewn on a wool felt background. Inside is a quote from the fairy tale and a piece of the bears fur.

Marie

This is Marie. Once upon a time she... lost her head. She's back, head and all!

Marie is beautifully dressed in a pink cotton gown with a charming Queen Anne's Lace print in white. Her gown is trimmed in white and blue ribbon, a pale pink ric rac, and pretty pink buttons.
Around Marie's neck is a sheer blue ruff with a pink button topped with a gold and white button. (All in a vain attempt to detract from the stitches needed to keep her severed head securely attached!)

Marie's hair- made with white wool roving- is beautifully decorated with pink and blue ribbons. The 'incident' caused her to receive a trimming she wasn't looking for but I think it still looks nice.
Her face and body are made with 100% wool and cotton floss.

Marie's portrait is completely hand made and lovingly stitched on to a black cotton background decorated with a white floral pattern. The portrait is backed with a black and white check, measures approximately 14" x 18", and is ready for framing as you wish.
